There are times in life when our usual ways of coping no longer seem to work.
You may find yourself feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, stuck in patterns that seem impossible to change, struggling in relationships, carrying the impact of difficult life experiences, or simply feeling disconnected from yourself and the life you want to live.
Sometimes people come to therapy because of a specific event or crisis. Others arrive with a quieter sense that something isn't right, even if they cannot fully explain why.
At Contemporary Psychology Clinic, we believe that these make sense.
The difficulties we experience are often understandable responses to our life experiences, relationships and environments. These are often the ways in which we have learned to cope. Anxiety, perfectionism, emotional overwhelm, self-criticism, people-pleasing, withdrawal or relationship difficulties are rarely random. They often developed for important reasons and deserve to be understood rather than judged.
Rather than asking: "What is wrong with you?" we are interested in exploring:
"What has happened to you?"
"How have your experiences shaped the way you relate to yourself and others?"
"What strengths have helped you survive?"
"What might help now?"
Through therapy, we help people develop a deeper understanding of themselves, build emotional resilience, process difficult experiences and create more fulfilling relationships with themselves and others.
